Out with the old & in with the New….

Tai Chi

2013 finished an exiting and full year for the residents of Pinhay with our usual Christmas celebrations and New Years Party.

It’s been a busy year with trips around Devon & Dorset for pub lunches or coffee’s and ice creams, between visiting some of the local attractions.

A visit to the sea front in Lyme at Lifeboat week to watch the Red Arrows. The donkey sanctuary and front at Sidmouth, Mangerton Mill, Beer, Seaton, Charmouth and many other local towns and villages have been visited.  Some residents just prefer to have a regular trip to the local shops to pick up a few bits that they need.

Other residents have been happy to complete jigsaws while some have helped decorate bird boxes, carve out pumpkins for Halloween and create flower displays for the approaching seasons.

One Gentleman in particular enjoys feeding the birds and spends many a day watching the local wildlife in and around the garden and fields here.

We have had song and dance performers at different times throughout the year much to the enjoyment of residents, families and staff alike. A harpist and flute player visited us in December and proved very popular, as we all sat quietly mesmerised by the haunting and beautiful music.

Our latest activity is Tai Chi. Two local exponents of this ancient form of martial art visit on a regular basis to run classes for the residents and staff. Despite a little reticence at first, everybody seems to really enjoy it now, and some staff come in on their day off to join in!

Already the activity team are planning thus years ventures and activities. Requesting the return of more popular groups and variety artistes. With a fishing trip and a mornings fly fishing as part of this years plans, we are making sure our residents get a wide choice of what they may like to try.

2014 looks like it could jam packed!
